PACK NEWS:
WEBSITE UPDATES
This well used group of websites is losing it's free/low-cost hosting services with it's current ISP. The USSSP
server must be connected to the internet by means of a high bandwith interface. We are told by our current provider
that we take a large fraction of a T1 leased line, 24 hours a day. 1 - 10 Mbps continuous. This is about 10 times
what your DSL or Cable provides. We need 30 static IP addresses. If you can provide service, or know someone
who can, please contact me directly, gary.hendra@comcast.net. Yours in Scouting, R. Gary Hendra President, US Scouting Service Project, Inc.

War of 1812 Muster, Sully Plantation 21 May
I know some of you came out for our War of 1812 Muster last October, and really enjoyed it. This year's Muster will be
held on Saturday, May 21st, from 12-4pm. Here is a repeat of the description!
Americans were being called to take up
arms once again to defend our new nation against the British in the War of 1812. At Sully's muster, drill with troops, see
the cannon firing, and learn about early 19th century medical practice. In the 18th and 19th centuries musters were also a
time of socializing for civilians. Dance with our costumed interpreters to period tunes, play games and enjoy our puppet show,
created especially for Sully's Muster! Visit the kitchen and see what picnic foods are being prepared. A tour of the 1794
house is included. The cost is $6/adult, $4/child. Groups of 15 or more (paying together) receive a $1 discount on admission.
If you'd like to arrange for a group of 15 or more to come, send me an e-mail or give us a call at 703-437-1794 to give
us a heads up!

Scout Store Color Guards
All units are invited to raise flags at the council headquarters in the morning and/or conduct retreat in the
evenings. The freedom of the summer schedule provides units the time to conduct the ceremonies and the few adult
leaders that I've spoken with here in the lobby were very interested. I have also spoken with Kumar , as he is our current
color guard, and he is willing toshare this duty. If you have any units that are interested please have them call or
email me.

We'll be assembing an honor guard soon to retire this neighborhood flag as follows:
"When a national flag is worn beyond repair, burn it thoroughly and completely on a modes but blazing fire.
this should be done in a simple manner with dignity and respect. Be sure the flag is unrecognizable as a formal flag"
per BSA "Your Flag" 2003.

Baloo’s BB Blasters
4/16/05
Today we visited Camp
Snyder for our first time. For $20
we shot at things with bows and BB guns for 6 hours. Actually not a full 6 hours
as we did take time out to build 8” Cessna-like wooden planes and had lunch too.
Our targets included standard paper targets, tin pie pans, playing cards on strings, and balloons. I was surprised to learn that BBs sometimes pass right thru balloons without popping. Oh- almost forgot, we even shot at tin cans with dog-food ammo. Construction
is in full swing out there and it is likely that we won’t recognize the place when we return for next month’s
campout. I could go on and on, but we had a great time.
Got Stories?
Do you have a story that you would like to share? We want to let others know about the good things our scouts are
doing and National Capital Area Council has just made it easier to do. There is a new link on the council web site under
News and Events, ...."Got Stories?" That will take you to a page where we encourage units to send in some of the great stuff being done in our community;
any activity or scout event. Here is an email address as well where you can send newspaper articles, pictures, whatever
greatscoutstories@boyscouts-ncac.org There is a lot going on in Sully District--let's tell people what we are doing. Please send in what you have.
Make it a habit every month.
02/06/05 An Old Rag Mtn. trip for one of our families yielded a great time, even though snow and ice kept them
from the summit. Waking up at 10am didn't help either... But hey- a cub's gotta sleep sometime, right?
